| The MSNBC web site has recently launched a new poll concerning Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act, a Congress legislation that makes the online casino's life much harder. MSNBC's iniative came just days after a Wall Street Journal similar poll, regarding the bill and its impact on online casino sites. The poll, under the heading "Should Online Gambling Be Illegal?" provided the participants with three possible answers: the expected yes and no, and a pretty cynical "It doesn't matter what Congress passes, there will always be ways to gamble online". In only a matter of hours more than 3,000 people had already participated in the poll, showing a clear direction of supporting the online casino industry, just as happened in the WSJ poll some days ago. A week later there were already more than 5,000 reponses and one clear answer - no. A stunning 93% of the participants opted to support online casinos, saying that people have the right to wager any way they choose. Only 3% of the respondents felt that online casino sites should made illegal, and about 4% answered that it doesn't matter. The MSNBC site included with the poll an article covering the latest political charge against the online casino industry. It is also mentioned in that article that Congressman John Porter is trying to promote a bill, which was already introduced in May 2006, that would see if US online gambling companies can be effectively regulated, instead of punishing them with drastic measures. Porter's proposal is backed up by online casino sites and, if passed, it may mean a new beginning for the online gambling industry. | |
